## Extended Service Terms (EST) – Phase 1 Support

### Overview
We would like to inform you about an upcoming enhancement in C3 to support Microsoft’s new **End of Term (EoT)** policy, which becomes effective on **April 1, 2026.**

As part of this change, Microsoft is removing the free post-term grace period and introducing **Extended Service Terms (EST)** as a new option for subscription continuation. To prepare for these changes, Phase I introduces updates to the **Product Management interface and system configurations**.

These updates ensure that partners can manage subscription renewal behavior in line with Microsoft’s upcoming policy requirements.

### What’s Changing
C3 now supports three renewal policy options for eligible products:

* **Renew** - The subscription renews automatically for the next term.

* **Cancel at Expiration** - The subscription ends automatically when the current term expires.

* **Renew to Extended Service Terms (EST)** - The subscription continues under Extended Service Terms with applicable pricing adjustments.

These options will appear in the **Products → Manage → Basic Details** screen for eligible products.

### What You’ll See in C3

#### Product Management Updates
The Manage → Basic Details section in Product Management has been updated to support the new renewal policy options.

For eligible **NCE products**, you will now see three renewal options:
* Renew
* Cancel at Expiration
* Renew to Extended Service Terms (EST)

The system will automatically determine whether a product is eligible to display these options based on internal configuration and offer criteria.

For **non-NCE products**, the existing **Auto-Renew checkbox** will continue to function as it does today.

### What’s Not Included in This Phase

This release focuses on introducing the **UI updates and configuration framework** required for EST support. The following enhancements will be implemented in upcoming phases:

* EST support for **bundle and linked products**
* **Subscription synchronization** updates
* Enhancements to **upgrade and price change flows**
* **Billing updates**, including EST uplift calculations

### Why This Matters
These changes ensure that C3 is aligned with Microsoft’s upcoming subscription lifecycle policies while giving partners early visibility and control over renewal behavior.

By introducing the UI and configuration framework now, we are preparing the platform for a smooth transition when **Microsoft’s Extended Service Terms policy becomes mandatory in April 2026**.
